Meet Our Physician

Our Physician, Dr. Asima Bajwa, is a Board-Certified Cataract, Glaucoma, and Uveitis specialist. She is an accomplished cataract and glaucoma surgeon. She utilizes the latest techniques in microinvasive glaucoma and laser assisted cataract surgery, including astigmatism correcting toric and multifocal lenses. She treats glaucoma, uveitis, cataracts, and general ophthalmology issues.

Dr. Bajwa has won numerous awards throughout her career and is highly trained. She has completed subspecialty fellowships from Yale University and worked with Dr. Foster at MERSI in Boston, MA, adding to her uveitis expertise. She has extensive international ophthalmology experience with Humanity First, USA, having been on missions to Guatemala. She served as a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist from the College of Physicians & Surgeons in Pakistan. She lives in Virginia with her husband and enjoys dress designing, travelling and sampling the area’s diverse cuisine in her spare time.

Refraction and Contact lenses

Cataract

A cataract is the clouding of the eye’s natural lens that leads to blurred, dim, or glare‑sensitive vision. It most often occurs with age and cannot be reversed with drops or glasses; surgery is the only definitive treatment.

Glaucoma

A group of diseases that damage the optic nerve—often due to elevated eye pressure—leading to gradual, irreversible vision loss that typically starts in side (peripheral) vision. Early detection is critical.

Uveitis

Inflammation of the eye affecting the pigmented portion of your eye (iris, ciliary body, choroid) and sometimes adjacent tissues (vitreous, retina, optic nerve) or the white skin of the eyeball (sclera). Types include anterior, intermediate, posterior, and panuveitis.

Retina

The retina is the light‑sensing layer that sends visual signals to the brain; the macula provides sharp central vision. Retinal disorders can threaten sight if untreated.
